Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are vital to our continued efforts to work towards our mission. 

We are always seeking individuals who have a passion for animals and wish to make a difference in the lives of the animals we care for.

There are many ways you can help!

Cat Socialization

Here kitty, kitty! To keep our cats healthy and happy, volunteers are needed

 for playtime, brushing & social interactions.

Dog Walker

Going for a walk? We have a companion that would love to join you! 

Animal Transport

Enjoy road trips and want a companion? We work with several rescue partners

 to help place animals struggling in the shelter environment. Animal transporters help these shelter pets in need arrive at their destinations.

Shelter Care & Maintenance

Like to fix things? Help us with repairs around the building to keep it in good shape for our furry friends. 

Board Member

Are you passionate about our mission and want to be involved? As a board member you would be a part of a team that creates the strategic plan to ensure

 a sustainable future for the shelter for years to come. 

If you have a special skill or trade that you feel may be beneficial to our shelter, please share it with us!

To become a volunteer at LAHS, you can attend one of our upcoming volunteer orientation meetings. We hold meetings on the second Monday of every month 

at 5:30 pm at the shelter. You do not need to pre-register to attend. 

We invite individuals of all ages to volunteer! If an individual is under the 

age of 16, they would need to be accompanied by an adult at all times while volunteering. If an individual is over 16 years, but under 18, they may 

volunteer without an adult by providing a  waiver form 

signed by their parent/legal guardian.
